TWDRAMA: In Time With You 我可能不會愛你 / Wo Ke Neng Bu Hui Ai Ni Ending

I really look forward to the ending as You Qing and Da Ren relationship is going through change painfully slow, and we need a happy ending!!

So far…
You Qing finds out from Maggie that Da Ren loves her, but is torn by her feelings for Li Wei. Da Ren has transferred to Singapore as he can’t bear to see You Qing and Li Wei together, realising that he can’t put a lid on his feelings.

You Qing agrees to marry Li Wei because Li Wei has shown that he really loves You Qing, but starts to prepare a rushed wedding as per Li Wei’s grandmother request. Throughout the wedding preparation, she argues with Li Wei on their apartment size, her dress etc. She wants it simple, but Li Wei wants it as grand as possible, and the best for her. You Qing gives in but as they are near to the wedding date, gets upset and even more disillusioned that marriage life may not be as blissful as she imagine. You Qing is also upset because she doesn’t know how to tell Da Ren about her upcoming marriage, so she hastily asks Da Ren to inform him.

Meanwhile, Da Ren also finds out why You Qing doesn’t inform him personally about her wedding. She knows!! His heart breaks as he finds out too that You Qing has been leaving messages on his Taiwanese phone number (he’s in Singapore) expressing her thoughts just like before, when they had their heart to heart talk. He decides to fly back to Taiwan, and even it breaks him apart, he has to give his blessings, as he’s still her best friend. Da Ren doesn’t find You Qing at home, pens her message. He tells her that he’s returning to Singapore, and that’s he’s sorry he can’t attend her wedding. He just wants to know he has lost, but it’s worth it. All he wanted to do was to hug her and comfort her when she was down, and that he doesn’t want to be a friend, can he love her instead?

You Qing at the same time is having her pre marriage party with her schoolmates. She gets a shock when she finds out that Da Ren has always loved her since high school days and even composed a song for her. She listens to the song and cries when she hears him sing that though he’s secretly in love with her, he has to pretend not to love her.

You Qing realises that she loves Da Ren, and has a breakdown. Her parents suggests she break the news to Li Wei that she’s backing out of the marriage. When she goes to see Li Wei, suddenly Li Wei’s secretary walks out with just a towel. She realises that he’s cheated, and despite Li Wei assurance that it’s a misunderstanding, she’s relieved that both of them have never belong to each other.

With everything cancelled, You Qing leaves the country for 8 months to travel around the world. She sends postcards from each country with a message to Da Ren, and Da Ren reads it with a smile on his face in Singapore.

When You Qing returns, she gets a job with Ikea with the dream of creating homes with a loving atmosphere. When she turned 31, she gets wishes from everyone BUT her best friend. She sighs but goes on to do her last checkup on a showroom set. She is surprised when the lights are turned off, and Da Ren appears. They seat on the sofa, and when You Qing says it’s so comfortable, Da Ren asks if they could seat together comfortably forever. Da Ren promises that he’ll be forever with her, and they kiss. Thus they begin their long distance relationship, with one flying to Singapore and other to Taiwan just to talk to each other, even if it’s a few hours.
In the end, each of them secretly asks for a transfer to the other country. But, when they discover their mistake, they throw a coin to decide where both of them will be. The coin decides Taiwan, but Da Ren says he needs a major excuse to transfer back. He looks at You Qing, and tells her that there’s only one, that is to marry. You Qing laughs and cries at the same time, complaining that it’s the worst proposal.

They get married, but even up to the morning after are surrounded by their schoolmates. In the end, they get on a flight to Singapore, and on the flight, Da Ren serenades You Qing with a offkey version of the song he wrote. In Singapore, they have their first night, and their honeymoon.

Back to normal life, they tell us that their life is meaningful, but they do have their quarrels too. After a quarrel, they ignore each other. And then You Ching, calls her best friend (also Da Ren), and complains to her best friend about her feelings on her husband. As she arrives at her mother’s house, Da Ren arrives too, and kisses her saying that he will never her go.

My thoughts: Very good.
If you are around the age of 28-30+, you’ll love it even more. The dialogues are very meaningful, and the way You Qing expresses her fear of getting old, and as a single person, is pretty heartwarming. It’s a very realistic drama, that many people can relate to. The question is: platonic relationships are they really platonic? To continue being best friends, or to risk losing it when the relationship has gone past that stage…
